History

The FINOVI foundation (Innovating in infectious diseases research) is a scientific co-operation foundation created by decree on the 21st of march 2007.

The FINOVI foundation benefits from the Advanced research thematic network (Réseau Thématique de Recherche Avancée) (RTRA) certification given by the ministry of higher education and excellence scientific projects research.

This label is the direct continuation of the certification given to the world competitive cluster Pôle de Compétitivité Mondial Lyonbiopôle supported by vaccine and diagnosis industrials, and reinforces Lyon’s positioning as an excellence area for infectious diseases research.

The FINOVI foundation received a 16,5 millions euros initial endowment, 13 millions euros state-funded and 3,5 millions euros brought by its founder members.
